Volunteer Opportunities

 
Crafts or activities for 2- 3 children: Call Claire Massey of Respite Care at 737-1212 and she will schedule a time for you to do a special activity with these special needs children.
 
Child Care & Fun: Any Baby Can is seeking volunteers to assist with childcare during counseling and support groups for families receiving services. This opportunity is available 5:30-7:00 PM Mondays, 9:30-11:00 AM Wednesdays and on the third and last Tuesdays of the month from 6:30-8:00 PM. Volunteers must be good with children and have patience and the ability to have fun. To volunteer, call Sandy Redmond at 210-227-0170.

Variety of Tasks: Christian Assistance Ministries (CAM) needs volunteers Monday through Friday for three- to four-hour shifts in the morning or afternoon on a weekly or bimonthly basis. Volunteers can choose from many areas of assistance. Call Dalia Trevino at 210-223-1553.

Bexar County Detention Ministries needs volunteers to assist staff and chaplains with facilitating support groups, classes and worship services for the incarcerated, as well as the formerly incarcerated, and their families in a facility or at the Family Renewal Center. Weekdays, weekends, and evening hours are available. Contact Belinda Courvier at 299-4540, ext 11.

Drivers Needed: Northeast Senior Assistance needs volunteers to pick up home-bound seniors and take them to medical appointments. They provide door-to-door service from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM, serve 240 clients and you can volunteer weekly or monthly. Other opportunities exist for other services. Call their office at 967-6372.
 
SAMMinistries needs volunteers that can nurture children, provide maintenance, or supervise a Friday movie night at TLLC. Look on the their website at www.SAMM.org for more details.
 
Metropolitan Methodist Hospital seeks volunteers in many areas, especially at their patient info desk and surgical waiting area. Call Kathy Black, 757-2446. Volunteer applications and brochures are outside the Christ Church receptionist’s office.

Supplies Needed: Christian Assistance Ministries (CAM) always has a need for men’s shoes. If you can donate a pair or two, bring them to the church and place them in the CAM trunks, located in the Parish Hall and by the reception area in the administration building. Another constant need is new underwear (still in the package) for all ages.
