Pastoral Events

Life After Loss

Christ Church Pastoral Care and Porter Loring Family Care Services offer Life After Loss. This is a program designed by the American Cancer Society to help bereaved people better understand the process of grief and how to live through it in a way that transforms them. It also provides a place for people to share their experiences and support each other in their grief. For more information, contact Carol Miller at 736-3132.

Coping with Grief During the Holidays

Grief can present itself in such a powerful way that it can overwhelm everything. How do you cope?
Porter Loring Family Care Services and Pastoral Care sponsor a two-hour session on “Coping With Grief During the Holidays.” Presentations include the impact of holidays and anniversaries, how to use memories to heal, and how to take care of yourself when you grieve. The holidays approaching can be filled with many emotions and memories for those who have recently lost loved ones. If you can identify with this, then don’t miss this opportunity. Come and join us. We can help! For more information, contact Carol Miller at 736-3132.

Community of Hope

Do you have an aging loved one who is house bound?
Or someone you love who is ill?
Do you have compassion for wounded soldiers returning home?
Do you want to be a hospital or nursing home visitor?
A more compassionate listener?
Someone who says the right thing when others are facing death? And grief?
Come, study and worship with us, share your experiences, develop and practice your skills, become more what Jesus would have you be as you minister in the world.
Community of Hope meets once a week for 11 weeks. Subjects include: Benedictine Spirituality, Pastoral Care, Listening, Prayer and Meditation, Visiting, Care for the Caregiver, and Practice Visits and a Retreat.
For information on the next session, contact Carol Miller at 736-3132.
